DREAM WATCHER

in these walls
a shadow plays
within these walls
a shallow grave

quiet as moonlight
still as stone
an earthen vessel
marrow and bone

inner worlds
winters rain
fleeting thoughts
age old pain

tiny shudder
a twitch a moan
old visions, lovers
all alone

hammer and chisel
crack of stone
saw on mortar
not our home

watching sleep
guarding rest
internal life
left unguessed

feeling, aching
close not near
body echoes
age old fear

Soon awaken
world anew
Mine unbroken
you?

Apartment near old town square in Prague. Watching my lover dreaming, while snow falls on laborers replacing cobblestones in the street below.
COMMITMENT

commitment
mind soul body
naked in spirit
at the edge
agony ecstasy
when eternity,
reaches conclusion
anything nothing
is better

commitment

no condition
no remorse
no consolation
no wisdom
naked desire
the animal
beneath our skin
moments of nothing
in dawns twilight hour
more than love
more than passion

commitment

as you draw breath
in life
in death
all you are
all you will be
one moment
all eternity

commitment

NIGHT WATCHERS

They guard the night
and greet the day
have only pleasant
things to say
The nightwatchers
in shades of gray

MY OLDEST FRIEND

You can not know my pain
it is mine and mine alone

the hollow echo of your own
may give you compassion
but that is all

my pain is my oldest friend
I know it
and it knows me

EXPECTATIONS

backpack rucksack
place for my stuff
cold day warm faces
going away
collection of peoples
not yet friends
willing able afraid
depends
first question
first pause
a summation
a novation
hesitation
too early to choose
suicide to lose
more coming
play it safe
pray
not to late
